Southern California Edison (SCE) last month rolled out its 2008 Innovative Designs for Energy Efficiency (InDEE) program, a new initiative to solicit innovative and cost-effective energy-efficiency programs from non-utility organizations. Winning bidders receive portions of a $1.5 million annual allocation to design, develop and implement their own energy-efficiency rebate programs for Edison's customers.

In previous years, bidders and subcontractors have included marketing firms, product and software development companies, media companies, manufacturers, distributors, energy services companies, consultants, engineers and many other kinds of organizations.

The InDEE program is designed to support commercialization of promising energy-efficient technologies not already covered in SCE's portfolio of incentive programs.

The request for proposals is scheduled for an April 24 release. Anyone interested in submitting a bid can register for placement on the solicitation list at www.sce.com/DoingBusiness/EEContractingOpportunities/. Questions should be directed to Bill Grimm at (626) 633-3017.
