Summit Electric Supply’s new Voltage Drop Calculator helps users determine the right wire for a cable run. This latest mobile app by the Albuquerque, N.M.-based Summit Electric calculates voltage and percentage drop for any size job or project. After selecting a conductor, users enter voltage, amps, phase, distance, and the number of runs to receive an instant calculation. Results are based on the 2014 National Electrical Code and include the formula used as well as detailed technical information that users can view and share for every calculation.
A visual graph also displays the drop in voltage over an entire cable run, showing where allowable percentages are so quick adjustments can be made on the fly. The Voltage Drop Calculator app is free, designed for use in the field, and is available for download on Google Play for Android devices 5+ and up or on the App Store for iOS 7.0 and later and iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch devices.
Summit Electric’s mobile app suite also includes a Conduit Fill Tracker, NEMA Configuration Guide and Summit Mobile.
