Cree’s SmartCast Taps into IoT Applications
Cree, Inc.’s SmartCast Manager, innovative software that unlocks the potential of better LED technology as the engine of limitless applications beyond light. Cree software maximizes the energy savings of Cree’s SmartCast PoE (Power over Ethernet) LED connected lighting intelligence platform -- which won a “Notable” award in DOE’s Annual Next Generation Luminaires -- with a OneButton Setup that commissions an entire building with a solitary stroke. The technology also facilitates a single point of control and visibility into real-time data analytics to identify advanced energy saving strategies and unlock the potential of more applications for better light through LED technology.
The technology also extends Cree’s SmartCast PoE into IoT applications by harvesting data that helps building owner operators manage energy usage as well as the safety and vitality of building occupants. Eaton’s Ephesus Sports Lighting Fixtures
Eaton’s Ephesus line of sports lighting fixtures won two major awards at Lightfair. Ephesus won the Sports, Step, Landscape, Pool & Fountain Luminaire category in the LFI Innovation Awards and was considered “Notable” in DOE’s new Sportslighting category for the NGL competition. Eaton acquired Ephesus Lighting in Nov. 2015, and has since announced LED lighting and controls installations at a variety of high profile sports venues including Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas, home of the Texas Rangers. The Ephesus Stadium Pro lights and a DMX control system installed there allows the facility operations team to wirelessly control the lights, tune the color temperature and entertain fans with exciting lighting scenes. The system also provides energy savings of over 60% compared to the facility’s previous lighting. Eaton’s Distributed Low Voltage Power (DLVP) system combines lighting and controls into one simple solution that can enable connectivity. By using DC low-voltage power and advanced LED technology, total materials and installation costs can be reduced by as much as 40 percent, while providing a completely flexible and electrically efficient solution. The system is designed to help customers implement distributed control strategies cost effectively. It allows for control of all lighting and receptacle loads, providing a platform for smart data analytics. Eaton’s Integrated Sensor Control Technology makes the lighting design the control design by combining the control within the luminaire. This reduces installation complexity and design time, while meeting energy codes.

Enlighted’s Lighting Sensors Ready for New IoT Applications
Enlighted's Advanced Lighting Control Solution won a “Notable” award in DOE’s Annual Next Generation Luminaires competition is comprised of four components: Enlighted Smart Sensors, Enlighted Room Control, Enlighted Gateway and Enlighted Energy Manager. This system automates, analyzes, controls and reports environmental data to drive building automation and efficiency. The Enlighted System includes granular lighting control automation, daylight harvesting, motion sensing, digital PIR sensing, and an Energy Analytics Dashboard.
Kenall Lighting’s MedMaster Balance – A DOE Next Generation Luminaire Winner
Kenall Lighting’s patient room over-bed luminaire combines a modern, multi-function design aesthetic with color-tuning (2,700K-6,500K) for the ambient and reading modes, plus fixed-CCT Exam. The DMX-enabled scene creation capabilities allow for natural daylighting cycles, nightlight mode or a color-matched High-Output Exam mode (with all functions ON). The DOE judges commented on the fixture’s appearance, glare control at high output, its wide range of illuminances and flexibility.

Leveraging Lutron’s Clear Connect wireless technology, the Vive wireless lighting control is easy to design, simple to install, and extremely flexible, easily adapting to the changing needs of a building over time. Vive is engineered to be a scalable, flexible lighting control solution that easily transforms a building one step at a time, or as space needs change, and helps address energy-saving issues. The Vive wireless solutions install up to 70% faster than wired systems. Lower overall installation costs, and minimal downtime and disruption to work, allows more customers to realize the benefits of lighting control. Philips SpaceWise – Notable in DOE Next Generation Luminaires’ Connected Lighting Category
The SpaceWise Technology includes embedded sensors and wireless controls, eliminating extra wiring between luminaires or to the compatible wireless switches. Dimming behaviors for the typical office spaces are pre-set in the factory so only fine-tuning needs to be done on-site to take advantage of the smart dimming behaviors. This allows a pre-packaged, out-of-the-box application solution that also gives technical flexibility to tune the room light levels in the field. The solution seeks to provide balance between energy efficiency, quality lighting, and the end-user experience.
Ideal’s Audacy Wireless Lighting Control System
Ideal launched Audacy at last year’s LightFair and since that time it has been building its rep network and scoring with some key installations, including Wrigley Field in Chicago. One of the more interesting aspects of Audacy is the care Ideal took to make the system simple for electrical contractors to install. For example, Audacy's Luminaire Controllers use Ideal's proprietary push-in wire termination technology to be easily installed within existing or newly installed fixtures and to engage lights and light groupings. On average, a Luminaire Controller can be installed in less than 3 minutes and can turn on, turn off, and provide 0-10V dimming for associated fixtures. The controllers are available as a fixture insert or, for low-profile appliances, as an attachment to the junction box.
