The Professional Electrical Apparatus Recyclers League (PEARL), Aurora, Colo., will educate electrical suppliers and reconditioners on the latest engineering and reconditioning practices, electrical safety and sustainability initiatives, and OEM partnerships during the 2010 Electrical Safety and Reliability Conference & Exhibition at the Westin Tabor Center in Denver, Colo., April 24-26.

Personalities from the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the electrical industry promise to make the 13th annual conference something special. After a week of optional skiing in Summit County, attendees will kick off the conference with a tour of local PEARL member Denver Breaker and Supply, then dive into technical presentations with experts on bolt pressure switches, plating procedures, the causes of bus duct failures, arc flash mitigation, and the latest PEARL reconditioning standards for electrical transformers.

Jerry Schemmel — survivor of the 1989 United Flight 232 plane crash, author, and voice of the Denver Nuggets — will talk about his unique perspective on surviving difficult times and the meaning of personal and business success in the keynote address. Other highlights include Nabil Nasr, director of the Golisano Institute for Sustainability at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), who will look at sustainability and reuse in the electrical industry; and Tom Grace, anti-counterfeit manager for Eaton Corp., who will update attendees on electrical counterfeits from overseas and the fruits of ongoing cooperation between Eaton and PEARL members to keep counterfeit products out of the electrical marketplace.
