The LED products profiled here generated thousands of page views from electrical contractors, facility maintenance personnel, specifying engineers and other readers of Electrical Construction & Maintenance (EC&M) magazine, EW’s sister publication.

We have all seen the monstrous change sparked by LED technology and how it’s revolutionized the interior design, architectural, engineering and construction communities within in the lighting market. It’s affecting each of these players in the construction market’s lighting supply chain in a different yet dramatic way. While plenty  of information is available about new trophy jobs using the latest in LED technology in various lighting publications and websites, it’s not always easy to quantify exactly which LED lamps, controls and lighting fixtures are of most interest to contractors, facility maintenance personnel and other decision-makers  involved in  the purchase of electrical products.

This article should help. It’s a compilation of the new LED products that generated the most page views and web traffic from end users in the electrical market who are readers of the G-Biz and Illumination Insider e-mail newsletters published by EW and Electrical Construction & Maintenance (EC&M), Electrical Wholesaling’s sister publication. EC&M’s readership includes more than 125,000 electrical contractors, facility maintenance personnel and other electrical end users, and EW’s editors have for years relied on their perspective on new products, purchasing habits and brand preference. The fact that hundreds of EC&M readers took the time to check out these new products and click on the links provided to spec sheets and other technical information is a good indication of the general level of interest in these LED products. And that web traffic is substantial — any of the products listed here generated well over 100 page views, and in the case of the EPCO Aleddra LED retrofit kit to convert 8-ft fluorescents to LEDs, well over 1,000 page views.

We were impressed by both the diversity of LED product applications that attracted the attention of the EC&M readers and the fact that the products profiled here are manufactured by lighting companies ranging from some fairly small manufacturers to some of the very largest global lighting giants. The fact that LED products developed by smaller players can attract just as much attention from electrical end users as products developed by multi-billion dollar lighting conglomerates proves that end users often look first at how a new product might solve a particular job-site application or challenge, and then worry about who’s manufacturing that product later.

The selection process is about as unbiased as you can get. Email newsletter readers and website visitors click on the products that interest them most, and EW’s editors rank the products that generate the most web traffic. Two of the nice things about posting them on www.ewweb.com and in our newsletters are that we can post more product items online than we ever had the space to do in print, and when we post them online, we can provide a direct hyperlink to additional technical information. We hope this feature provides you with market intelligence about some intriguing LED products now on the market. If you are a LED product manufacturer and want your new products to be considered for future coverage by EW, please email a brief product description, high-resolution digital images (300 dpi or better) and appropriate hyperlinks to technical datasheets or appropriate web pages to Jim Lucy, chief editor, at [email protected].
