Eaton Gets $8M Med Center Deal

Eaton Corp., Cleveland, will supply $8 million worth of electrical products and services for construction of a large new military medical center in San Antonio, Texas, as part of a consolidation of two military medical centers, according to the San Antonio Business Journal.

The products will be used in the construction of the San Antonio Military Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston. The new center is part of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure action. The Defense Department is consolidating operations at Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base and Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston into one medical region with two integrated campuses.

Construction began in early 2009 and has a mid-2011 completion date. The project includes a 700,000-square-foot medical trauma tower with 425 inpatient beds and 32 operating rooms. Eaton will supply low-voltage products such as panelboard and switchboards as well as services for start-up, testing and training.
