Platt Electric, Beaverton, Ore., opened four new branches in August. The new locations are part of Platt's expansion strategy to build its regional strength by creating office clusters that share inventory and information to better serve its growing customer base.

Platt Electric has 70 branches, covering six states: Washington, California, Oregon, Montana, Idaho and Utah. Platt's new branches are in Chehalis and Wenatchee, Wash.; Missoula, Mont.; and Livermore, Calif.

According to a press release, the Platt expansion strategy is aimed to bring Platt Electric services and products closer to its customers. With this, the company's inter-branch communications system offers customers access to expanded inventory and technical expertise.

A family-owned distributor with 725 employees and $289 million in 2002 sales, Platt Electric was ranked No. 17 on Electrical Wholesaling's 2003 listing of the Top 200 electrical distributors.
