Washington D.C. area electrical distributors and GE Sales team members took a break from the workplace for a game of flag football on a pro field in October, as part of GE Consumer & Industrial's first Capitol Games Flag Football Challenge. About 100 people turned out at the Washington Redskins' FedEx Field. The teams played 30-minute half-field games to determine the winner.

Maurice Electric Supply Co. won the event, taking home trophies and premium game tickets for a Redskins home game. The Maurice team had to beat out Electrical Wholesalers, Dulles Electric, Farmville Wholesale Electric Supply Co., Shepherd Electric Supply, GEXPRO and Graybar for the title.

GE Capitol Games is an incentive program for GE distributors and their employees. Seven lucky distributors and commercial customers and one GE sales team participated in the event. GE Capital Rewards is part of GE's ongoing corporate sponsorship with The Washington Redskins.

“GE's distributors score touchdowns for their customers every day with the deployment of our reliable, cost- and energy-saving electrical distribution and lamp products,” says Derek Gibbons, GE District Manager for the Capitol region. “This is a fun way to reward our customers' dedication to value and excellence.”

Participants received star treatment with Redskins public-address announcer Mark Kessler introducing each player as they ran onto FedEx Field through the tunnel and large inflatable Redskins' team helmet. Former Redskin greats, wide receivers Gary Clark and Ricky Sanders, served as honorary coaches calling the “Xs and Os” for the teams.

Each team received a 75th anniversary football autographed by Clark and Sanders, official Redskins jerseys, yearbooks and fleece jackets. When the games were done, the teams were treated to a catered awards ceremony at the Owners Club, on-site at FedEx Field.
