Consolidated Electrical Distributors Inc., has acquired Cain Electrical Supply Corp., Big Spring, Texas, in a move that expands its presence in the western part of the state and New Mexico.

Cain Electrical Supply, with nine locations, has 75 employees and annual sales of $34 million in 2004, according to Electrical Wholesaling's Top 200 listing.

Consolidated Electrical Distributors (CED), Westlake Village, Calif., is ranked the nation's fourth largest electrical distributor, according to EW. CED has approximately 5,000 employees and more than 500 locations.

The business will continue to operate under the Cain name and will become part of CED's West Central region, for which Jack Grove is the regional vice president.

Tom Ross, Cain's president, said several leading electrical supply distributors had approached him over the years to buy the business, but he selected CED because its business philosophy seemed compatible.

Joyce Blassingame, who has been with Cain for 23 years and was most recently vice president, is newly appointed division manager of the Cain Electric division.

Cain has locations in Texas in Big Spring, Odessa, Midland, Brownwood, Lubbock, San Angelo, Snyder and Stephenville. The company also has a location in Hobbs, N.M.

Before the acquisition, CED had 12 locations in Texas and a division office in San Antonio, according to CED's Web site.
