This region wins the award for the most interesting mix of construction projects planned and underway. In Nevada you have the $300 million Linq entertainment district along the Las Vegas Strip, which it’s said will have a ferris wheel and an estimated 40 restaurants. New Mexico’s projects include a plan by International Isotopes Inc. for a “depleted uranium deconversion and fluorine extraction processing facility” near Hobbs, N.M.; the billiondollar Tres Amigas electric distribution superstation north of Clovis, N.M.; and Union Pacific’s $400 million Santa Teresa, N.M., maintenance facility, which an article on the Omaha World-Herald described as a “Jiffy Lube for trains.” Other projects in the area now underway include a $583.3 million hospital job in Denver and the $300 million Intel R&D facility in Chandler, Ariz. electrical
