Nelda “Micky” Elliott, co-owner and human resource manager of Elliott Electric Supply, Nacogdoches, Texas, died June 7. She was 62. Micky and Bill Elliott started Elliott Electric Supply together in Nacogdoches in 1972. Micky managed the Lighting Showroom of Elliott Electric for many years before becoming corporate human resource manager. She has been active in NAED for many years and will be remembered for the unique “Vendor Appreciation” brunches she hosted each year at the national conventions. Micky is survived by her husband Bill; son Billy and wife Tamra; daughters Nina Elliott Conrad and husband, Rev. Mark Conrad, and Virginia Elliott Dempsey; grandchildren Chris Dempsey, Amanda Conrad, Michael Elliott and Parker Elliott.

Joseph Mevis, the founder of Nunn Electric Supply, died on July 24 at his home in Missouri City, Texas. He was 83 years old. Born and raised in Cedar Falls, Iowa, Mevis began his career in the electrical business in May of 1936, working in the warehouse of Westinghouse Electric Supply while attending Cedar Falls high school. In August of 1945 he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps and was stationed in Kerns, Utah. After his honorable discharge, he resumed his career in Iowa with Warren Electric Co. In 1942 he was transferred to the Houston area and founded Nunn Electric Supply in 1947 with two partners. Nunn Electric Supply became one of the largest electrical wholesale companies in the country prior to its acquisition in 1983. He retired shortly thereafter and returned to the electrical industry in a consulting capacity some years later. Mevis is survived by his wife, Edith, of 31 years; his son, William Hale; his daughter, Judy Ann Mevis-Farmer; his stepson, Douglas Joel Ross; his stepdaughter, Linda Rachella Disnard; his brother, Willis Herman; his sister, Janet Clare Karpan; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorials be made to the American Heart Association, P.O.
