Van Meter to Offer Solar Training for Contractors

Van Meter Inc., Waterloo, Iowa, will offer solar photovoltaic (PV) training in Waterloo, Iowa, April 7-9, for electricians, builders, engineers and trade professionals interested in becoming solar installers.

Van Meter Inc., Waterloo, Iowa, will offer solar photovoltaic (PV) training in Waterloo, Iowa, April 7-9, for electricians, builders, engineers and trade professionals interested in becoming solar installers. The company is providing the PV training in partnership with the Midwest Renewable Energy Association,

We have good sun access here in the Midwest and a proven track record with renewable energy. Expertise in solar will position installers for success as this market grows.”

The three-day course offers a unique training opportunity that combines classroom time with actual, hands-on learning. Participants will have the opportunity to install various racking systems, modules, inverters and more.  The course qualifies for Continuing Education Units from the State of Iowa Electrical Examining Board.

The U.S. solar market is growing.  According to the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), there are now over 17,500 megawatts of cumulative solar electric capacity operating in the U.S., enough to power more than 3.5 million average American homes. It’s estimated that a solar project is being installed every three minutes in the United States, making solar one of the fastest growing markets in our nation.
