At Warren Electric Group, Houston, Texas, John P. Peterson, president and chief operating officer, Electrical/Automation, has resigned to pursue a career change. Cheryl L. Thompson-Draper, chief executive officer, will serve additionally as acting president of Electrical/Automation.
Freddie Stewart has been promoted to distribution utility marketing manager for the Wire and Cable division of Southwire Co., Carrollton, Ga. A 24-year company veteran, he was most recently sales manager and manufacturing coordinator for the Machinery division.
At Applied Power, Inc., Milwaukee, Wis., John Thomas, previously director of sales for Gardner Bender, has been named global accounts leader for the Electronics division of Applied Power, the parent of Gardner Bender (GB). Mike Masino, previously national accounts manager for GB, has been named vice president of business development for GB. He assumes the duties of John Carlson, who has accepted a position as Midwest regional sales manager at Sea Gull Lighting Products, Inc., Riverside, N.J.
Wade H. Roberts, Jr., most recently chief operating officer, has been appointed president and chief executive officer of C&D Technologies Inc., Blue Bell, Pa. He succeeds Alfred Weber, who retired in March, 1999.
Jerry Uvira has been appointed vice president, sales and marketing, for the General Wire, Energy division (N.A.) of Pirelli Cables and Systems N.A., Columbia, S.C. He was most recently director of marketing for Alcan Cable. Uvira succeeds Grayson Spurlock, who returns to Europe with responsibility for customers operating on a European scale.

Ed McGrath has been appointed to the board of directors of Omni Cable, West Chester, Pa. He was president and chief executive officer of Graybar Electric until he retired in 1995. He is also chairman of the board for VWR Scientific.

He was previously a regional vice president. Ken Avery, formerly a Baltimore regional manager, succeeds Johnson as Baltimore regional vice president. Edward S. Fagan has been appointed to York regional operations manager. Frank R. Koenig has been appointed Baltimore warehouse operations manager.
