Obituary: Gross Electric’s Richard “Dick” Gross

Gross, a graduate of the University of Michigan and an Army Air Force veteran, was a long-time supporter of the National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED), St. Louis, and many local organization in the Toledo area, including the Toledo Symphony, Glengarry Country Club and the University of Toledo’s Center for Family Business, which he founded. He was very proud that his daughter Laurie, the company’s president and son, Joe, vice president, wanted to go into the family business and under their leadership over the past 20 years the third-generation Gross Electric has continued to thrive.

Richard ”Dick”  Gross, 86, former president of Gross Electric Inc., Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Friday, Jan. 10 in Sylvania, Ohio. Gross, a graduate of the University of Michigan and an Army Air Force veteran, was a familiar face at NAED gatherings for years and was a supporter of many local organization in the Toledo area, including the Toledo Symphony, Glengarry Country Club and the University of Toledo’s Center for Family Business, which he founded.

He was very proud that his daughter Laurie, the company’s president and son, Joe, vice president, wanted to go into the family business and under their leadership over the past 20 years the third-generation Gross Electric has continued to thrive. According to his obituary in the Toledo Blade, surviving family members include his wife, Marion Gross, whom he married April 5, 1952; daughters, Laurie Gross, Marcia Miller, and Paulette Collins; son, Joe Gross; 11 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
