Promotions and new appointments

Industry Data Exchange Association (IDEA, Rosslyn, Va.): John Wilson, who recently retired as manager, eCommerce and business development, for Osram Sylvania, will be a consultant for IDEA. Wilson brings over 30 years of electrical industry experience and passion for data synchronization to IDEA. Wilson will be responsible for the management and coordination of IDEA's data synchronization platform. Specifically, he will oversee IDEA's expanding data sourcing department, IDW training/support programs and IDW development projects. He will also play an active role in both the Industry Data Warehouse (IDW) User Group and IDEA Standards Committee (ISC) meetings. Wilson has a proven track record of success in e-commerce and data synchronization initiatives. During his career at Osram Sylvania, he increased electronic order purchasing from 30 percent to 85 percent and successfully managed product and pricing data loads in IDW to reach the highest data audit standards. Wilson accepted an early retirement agreement from Sylvania in late September.

Activant Solutions Inc. (Philadelphia): Kevin Roach has joined Activant Solutions Inc. as the executive vice president of its wholesale distribution group headquartered in Yardley, Pa. He will be responsible for the development, sale and implementation of software designed for wholesale distributors. Roach brings more than 25 years of software industry experience to Activant. Most recently, he served as president of Rockwell Software for Rockwell Automation, Milwaukee. There he led all automation and information software efforts.

KITCO Fiber Optics (Virginia Beach, Va.): Troy Goodnow has been appointed to the position of program manager — Field Services. He will be responsible for overall project management for the company's field services team, providing on-site fiber-optic services for the U.S. Navy, major shipyards and numerous DoD contractors. Goodnow has extensive DoD program management experience, most recently serving as senior systems engineer for Advanced Acoustic Concepts as well as program manager positions at L-3 Communications and Anteon.

BICSI (Tampa, Fla.): The Executive Board of Directors for BICSI has appointed John D. Clark Jr. as the executive director/CEO. Clark joins BICSI as a Certified Association Executive (CAE) and telecommunications industry executive, most recently serving as president/CEO for the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE). Clark is a former marketing executive with more than 28 years of experience in the cable and telecommunications industries.

Venture Lighting International (Streetsboro, Ohio): Amanda Foust has recently been promoted to director, Venture Lighting Institute (VLI), and sales training coordinator, Venture Lighting North America. Foust has worked for more than two years as a regional sales manager for Venture Lighting International educating lighting specifiers. As director, Foust will manage all activities relative to the VLI. As sales training coordinator, Venture Lighting North America, Foust will manage all of Venture Lighting International's internal and external sales training initiatives. Ken Kerschner has recently been named product manager for electronic pulse-start MR16 track lighting systems, trade show manager and electric utility rebate manager for Venture Lighting International. Kerschner will continue his responsibilities in market development and public relations. As product manager for Venture's MR16 track lighting technology, Kerschner will manage all development, marketing and sales activities related to this low-wattage, energy-saving and improved color alternative to traditional halogen track lighting for retail lighting, auto dealership showrooms and art/museum gallery lighting. He will also manage all Venture Lighting trade show activities, which now encompass lighting, retail, automotive, national account and electric utility markets. As electric utility rebate manager, Kerschner is responsible for the promotion of pulse-start metal halide technology to electric utilities nationwide as an energy-saving alternative to other lighting technologies. Primary focus will be on increasing utility rebates available to customers for choosing this lighting technology.

The National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED, St. Louis): Tom Naber has been promoted to president and chief executive officer of the association. Naber joined NAED in 1997 as publisher of TED magazine. In 2001, Naber was appointed president of the association. In this expanded role, he assumes the additional responsibility of spearheading strategic planning efforts for NAED and leading the organization's day-to-day operations. Prior to NAED, Naber served as editor of Electrical Contractor magazine, the publication of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), Bethesda, Md.

At TED magazine, Michael Martin has been promoted to publisher and Misty Byers has been promoted to editor. An NAED staff member since 1998, Martin has been TED associate publisher/editor since 2007. Byers has been the managing editor of TED magazine since 2001 when she joined NAED.

Schréder Lighting (Chicago): Schréder Group G.I.E. has appointed John Camp general manager from deputy general manager and national sales manager. Since joining the firm in May 2007, Camp has developed the firm's national sales force while expanding operations and product distribution in the commercial lighting and specification markets. Camp is a 23-year industry veteran. Prior to joining Schréder, he served as national sales manager and product manager for W.A.C. Lighting/W2 Architectural Lighting, Garden City, N.Y. He also served as president of Light Lines Inc., and as a partner of DHC Associates, a commercial sales agency based in the Philadelphia market.

Beacon Products (Bradenton, Fla.): Christopher Bailey has been promoted to vice president of sales at Beacon Products LLC. Prior to joining Beacon in 2004, Bailey served as outside sales representative for the lighting sales agency David L. Cash & Associates in Knoxville, Tenn. After joining Beacon Products as quotations and customer-service specialist, Bailey was named manager of inside sales in 2006.
