MOTIONS AND NEW APPOINTMENTS J. Monte Roach has been named president of Sola/Hevi-Duty, a part of the EGS Group, Skokie, Ill., a joint venture of Emerson and SPX. Roach was formerly vice president of Sola/Hevi-Duty.

John Capaccio has been named switchgear operations manager for SPT Electric Supply Co., Belle Mead, N.J. He previously worked with GE and Siemens. Jim Sydlo has been appointed outside sales representative for the Spotswood, N.J., branch location. Barry Macrea has been appointed outside sales representative for the Flemington, N.J., branch location. Mike Andrisano has been named sales manager for the company.

Osram Sylvania, Danvers, Mass., has appointed Francis Santiago senior vice president of operations for the company's general lighting business. He was previously vice president and general manager of Osram Sylvania's electronic components and materials.

R.S. "Dick" Waterman has been appointed chief operating officer of Rexel Inc., Dallas. He will be responsible for the daily operations of the company. All Rexel Inc. divisions, national and strategic accounts and all Westburne's U.S. operations will report to him. Waterman will also be a member of the executive committee, which sets strategic direction for the company. He was previously executive vice president of Westburne Inc., Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Rexel agreed to buy Westburne last fall.

J.H. Larson Electrical Co., Golden Valley, Minn., has announced that C.E. (Chuck) Pahl has assumed the title of chairman of the board, and Greg Pahl has been named president and chief executive officer. Chuck has been with the company since 1951 and will semi-retire in April.

Ralph Jackson Jr. has been promoted to the new position of chief operating officer for Cooper Industries Inc., Houston. He was previously vice president of operations. Terry Klebe has been appointed chief information technology officer. Previously, he was senior vice president, strategic sourcing. David White Jr., formerly senior vice president of strategic planning, has been named as the company's new venture development officer.

Michael Gallagher, previously with Thomas & Betts Corp., Memphis, Tenn., has been appointed director of global marketing and sales for the metalworking solutions and services group of Kennometal Inc., Latrobe, Pa. Gallagher was most recently president of the Industrial Division for T&B.

Lutron Electronics Co. Inc., Coopers-burg, Pa., has appointed Michael Pessina senior vice president, responsible for supply chain operations management. Previously, he was vice president of manufacturing operations.

Robert Allen has been named strategic accounts manager for Stuart C. Irby Co., Jackson, Miss. The 24-year company veteran was most recently a salesperson. Carroll Blackledge has been named director of sales support. Prior to joining the company, Blackledge worked for Integrity Online and Cellular South in various sales and marketing roles. David Rose has been promoted to national accounts coordinator. He has been with the company for 16 years.

David Hicks Jr. has been named president and chief operating officer of DH Supply Co. Inc., Suwanee, Ga. Hicks was previously executive vice president of the company.

Warshauer Electric Supply, Tinton Falls, N.J., has announced the following appointments: Jeffrey Musoff has been named vice president of operations and finance. Jim Dunn has been named vice president of sales and marketing. John Pardenek has been named vice president of technical sales. Fred Messina has been named branch manager of the company's Parsippany store.

Bill Reese has been appointed corporate services manager for Warren Electric Group, Houston. Prior to this promotion, Reese was marketing communications manager for the company. Rod Williams, an account manager for Warren Electric Group, has been installed as the president of the Dallas Electric Club. Williams joined Warren Electric Group in 1981.

Seth Mikle and Diana Mondo have been appointed inside sales representatives for bestroute.com LLC, DeWitt, N.Y. Mikle comes to the company from CAS Systems, where he was a marketing consultant. Mondo joins the company from Crest Acura, where she was a sales and leasing consultant.

SmartContractor, Seattle, has appointed Todd Ullom and Chad Blevins as vice president of sales and marketing and vice president of business development, respectively. Luisa Recalcati has been promoted to chief technology officer. Most recently, Ullom was executive director of sales and business development at BuildNet. Blevins previously held the title of vice president of business development at MagneTek Inc. Recalcati was formerly chief architect for SmartContractor.

The Electrical Products Group (EPG) of Superior Essex, Fort Wayne, Ind., has announced the following personnel changes: Under a new organizational structure, the company's customer relations representatives will now be located in Superior Essex's four distribution centers. A regional manager of customer operations will run each distribution center, and all sales and customer service operations will be coordinated by an Eastern and Western director of sales and customer services. Doug Dunbar was named director of sales and customer services for the West. Gary Baumgartner was named director of sales and customer services for the East. Regional managers of customer operations will be Tim Reid in Ontario, Calif.; Brad Haynes in St. Joseph, Mo.; Jim Szobody in New Haven, Ind.; and Kevin Sawicki in McDonough, Ga. Other changes to the organization include: Hank Ehlers assumes the role of director of sales focusing on important growth territories. Pete Townsend continues in his role of national account manager for selected house accounts, with added responsibilities for specific accounts in the Midwest area. Brian Griffin assumes the role of Canadian sales manager. Glenn Clouse joins the marketing department as marketing manager, new business initiatives.

H.E. Williams Inc., Carthage, Mo., has announced two new promotions. Tim Lamberth has been named vice president of sales and marketing. With nearly 20 years in the electrical industry, he was most recently Western regional sales manager for the company. Angie Alvarado has been appointed Western regional sales manager. Alvarado previously held the same title with the Thomas & Betts Lighting Division.

Jeff Tabak has been appointed Central regional sales manager for Ferraz Shawmut Inc., Newburyport, Mass. He was formerly district manager for the Chicago area. Eric Deuchar has been promoted to Northeast regional OEM development manager. Deuchar was formerly product marketing manager for the company's Socomec disconnect switch line.

Crescent Electric Supply Co., East Dubuque, Ill., has appointed Jeff Hoyt manager of the distribution facility in San Marcos, Calif.

Siemens Energy and Automation Inc., Atlanta, has named Debra Magee manager of its meter sockets manufacturing plant in Miami. She joined the company in 1990 and most recently held the position of Chicago-area service center manager.

Carlo Gavazzi Inc., Buffalo Grove, Ill., has named Sean Conboy Midwest area sales manager. Jim Lostetter has been named Southeastern area sales manager.

Stephen Knup has been named president and chief operating officer for Superior TeleCom Inc., New York. He was previously executive vice president and chief financial officer of MG North America Holdings Inc.

Panasonic Commercial and Residential Products Group, Secaucus, N.J., has named Brian Kincaid southwest regional sales manager for Panasonic building and lighting product lines. Kincaid is the former owner of Techs West Inc.

JJI Lighting Group, Greenwich, Conn., has announced the following appointments: James Haworth has been promoted to vice president, general manager of both the Alkco Lighting Inc. and Quality Lighting. He was most recently vice president and general manager of Alkco. Ian Ibbitson has been promoted to vice president, general manager for the Architectural Landscape Lighting Inc. and Lam Lighting Systems Inc. subsidiaries. He has been with the company since 1995 as a vice president of Architectural Landscape Lighting. Victor Wittmann has been promoted to vice president of sales and marketing for Quality Lighting. He had been eastern regional vice president since 1997. Kevin Kasmiskie has been promoted to vice president of sales and marketing for Lam Lighting. He was previously north central region vice president. Vernon Dill has been promoted to vice president of marketing for the whole JJI Lighting Group.

Al Grossman, founder, president and chief executive officer of Conservation Technology Ltd., Northbrook, Ill., is retiring effective March 1. Grossman has worked in the electrical industry for 45 years and founded Con-Tech in 1980.

Southwire Co., Carrollton, Ga., has named Stuart Thorn president. Previously, Thorn was president and chief operating officer of Beaulieu of America. He will assume the responsibilities held by Southwire chairman and chief executive officer Roy Richards Jr.

-Shat-R-Shield Inc., Salisbury, N.C., has appointed Mike Nychay to director of sales. Nychay was formerly sales manager for the company's industrial division. Chris Gosney has been promoted to sales manager, industrial division.

Bill Benschneider has been named Western region sales manager for Ericson Electrical Specialties, Willoughby, Ohio. Benschneider was most recently OEM sales manager and the western region inside sales representative for the company.

-W. James McNerney Jr., has been named chairman and chief executive officer of 3M, St. Paul, Minn. Prior to his appointment at 3M, McNerney, an 18-year GE veteran, spent several years as president and chief executive officer of GE Lighting. He was among the top three contenders in line to succeed John F. Welch Jr. as chairman of General Electric Co. That race ended last week with the naming of Jeffrey R. Immelt to the position.
