Open-source business management software developer xTuple, Norfolk, Va., has formed a partnership with Distribution Technology Group (DTG), Virginia Beach, Va., to provide their technology products and services to the electrical distribution marketplace.

xTuple brings the worlds of open source and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems together to serve small- to mid-sized companies. Designed specifically for distributors and manufacturers, xTuple's fully-integrated end-to-end software system improves operational controls and, thus, profitability, the company says.

xTuple sees working with DTG as an opportunity to improve its presence in the electrical segment of the wholesale distribution market by partnering with industry veteran and DTG principal, Stacey Pandeloglou.

“xTuple's open source philosophy brings a powerful new option to distributors who have borne the brunt of consolidation in the ERP software industry,” said Ned Lilly, president and CEO of xTuple. “When you own the source code, and you're a member of a huge global community of similar companies using the software, your relationship with the software vendor is substantially more in your favor. That's the world we created and have lived in for ten years.”
