Emirates Stadium in London, home of Arsenal Football Club, unveiled a new state-of-the-art LED floodlighting system at the club’s first evening game of the 2015/16 season against Liverpool. The conversion increases light levels by 32% to meet Premier League lighting standards and reduces energy consumption by 30% compared to the prior 2000-watt metal halide lights

Emirates Stadium in London, home of Arsenal Football Club, unveiled a new state-of-the-art LED floodlighting system at the club’s first evening game of the 2015/16 season against Liverpool.

The lighting, provided by sports lighting specialist Musco Lighting, was selected “to take the experience of spectators to the next level and maximise energy efficiency” at Emirates Stadium (formerly Ashburton Grove).

“It is important for both players and fans alike that we have top-quality lighting for the club’s evening fixtures and Musco’s new floodlights provide just that,” Arsenal Stadium and Facilities Director John Beattie said. “This will be extremely beneficial for both matchdays and other events that we host at Emirates Stadium.”

Among the benefits of the new lighting from Musco’s SportsCluster Green product line, it improves the quality of light with custom optics that more effectively direct light onto the field and not into the players or spectators’ eyes, it increases light levels by 32% to meet Premier League lighting standards and reduces energy consumption by 30% compared to the prior 2000-watt metal halide lights. The LED light source also provides instant on/off capabilities for special effects, and eliminates the “flicker” effect for excellent slow motion replay, Musco said in a release.

“We’ve installed a state-of-the-art LED lighting solution that will create an incredible match day experience at Emirates Stadium,” said Jeff Rogers, president, Musco World. “Our lighting system provides precise light control that will significantly reduce glare for spectators and players, optimize energy consumption, and offer superior HD broadcasts.”

Other recent stadium retrofits Musco has worked on include Houston Texans’ NRG Stadium, the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, and Twickenham Stadium, the world’s largest rugby venue.
