Granite City Electric Supply Co., Quincy, Mass., recently raised nearly $15,000 for the “BeLikeBrit” Foundation at its Charity Golf Classic at Foxborough Country Club, thanks to the generous participation of Granite City Electric's customers, vendors and business partners alike.

“BeLikeBrit: Britney Gengel's Poorest of the Poor Fund” was created in memory of Len and Cherylann Gengel's late daughter, Britney. Britney — only 19 years old — was volunteering at an orphanage in Haiti alongside college classmates and professors when the catastrophic earthquake of Jan. 2010 struck, claiming the lives of thousands, Britney's included.

Len and Cherylann Gengel, residents of Rutland, MA, established “BeLikeBrit” in hopes of keeping their daughter's dream of building an orphanage in Haiti alive. In 2011 alone, Granite City Electric Supply has raised more than $30,000 through the generous contributions of countless patrons, partners and friends to help further the ongoing orphanage construction.
