Klein Tools, Lincolnshire, Ill., is accepting nominations for its annual Electrician of the Year award. The grand prize winner will receive $2,500 a year in free Klein Tools for 10 years, totaling $25,000 worth of hand tools. Klein Tools said it’s looking for electricians who exemplify professional achievement, safety excellence and community dedication. Entries, including self-nominations, will be accepted online at www.kleintools.com/eoy through August 7, and all U.S.-based professional electricians are eligible.

In a new twist on the competition, Klein Tools will make fan voting part of the selection process. Fans will be able to vote on the grand prize winner after six regional winners are announced in mid-August. Online voting will follow shortly after the regional winners are announced.

The six regional winners will be flown to Boston for an exclusive weekend getaway in early October. Each regional winner will receive $750 to $1,250 in Klein Tools products, and each will also be awarded Klein Tools’ Ultimate Garage Package including a 41-piece Klein Journeyman Tool Set and other Klein gear. The grand prize winner will be announced on October 8.

“This year Klein Tools is focused on giving a decade of dedication,” said Greg Palese, vice president of marketing at Klein Tools. “We want to give back to the men and women who are positive examples of electricians in the field and in their communities. Each year this contest introduces us to local heroes who are making a difference in their towns, and promoting safety and learning in the electrical industry.”

Klein family members review the submissions in order to pick the grand prize winner. As descendants of founder of Klein Tools, Mathias Klein, each member takes into account 159 years of Klein Tools’ heritage to help determine who should represent the electrical industry as Klein Tools’ Electrician of the Year.
