Roadrunner Food Bank, New Mexico's largest food bank, received $30,000 in warehouse storage racking from Summit Electric Supply, which is headquartered in Albuquerque. Food Bank staff estimates the racking will create up to 260 additional pallet locations for food storage. Food is primarily now stacked on pallets on the warehouse floor.

“We're honored to come alongside Roadrunner Food Bank, with this donation,” said Victor Jury Jr., Summit president and CEO. “We operate warehouses ourselves, and understand how important this type of infrastructure can be.”

Improving storage will be helpful as the food bank faces its most vulnerable season — summer.

“The need is highest in the summer, in part because kids who qualified for free or reduced priced meals at school no longer have access to those meals in the summer months. Families have to come up with additional meals that they often struggle to provide,” says Melody Wattenbarger, Roadrunner's president and CEO. “Pallet racking is essential for us. Right now much of our food is stored on pallets on our warehouse floor. The vertical storage that pallet racking provides gives us more storage and this allows us to obtain more food. Having more food benefits the hungry people we serve.”
