Temple Inc., Grand Prairie, Texas, acquired Rigby Electric of Kingstree, S.C., for an undisclosed sum.

Rigby Electric, a family-owned utility specialist founded in 1958, had 1998 sales of approximately $6 million, says Rick McClure, chief executive for Temple. Rigby Electric joins Power Supply Inc., a utility distributor Temple bought last June based in Matthews, N.C. At one time Rigby was "a business related to Power Supply," says McClure, and following the acquisition Rigby will operate under the Power Supply name. The addition of Rigby fills gaps in Power Supply's Carolinas coverage. Power Supply, which has become the platform for a new division of Temple, serves the North Carolina utility market as well as some residential electrical contractors in the Matthews area, a suburb of Charlotte.
