Temple Holding Co., Grand Prairie, Texas, added substantially to its presence in the mid-Atlantic region with the purchase of Vanyo, Inc., Somerset, Pa. The acquisition will give Temple estimated annual sales for 1999 of $150 million.

Temple Holdings' chief executive officer, Rick McClure, says he has known Vanyo owners Robert and Barbara Vanyo for over 12 years, dating back to the early days of the National Association of Utility Distributors (NAUD), of which both companies are founding members.

Robert Vanyo will become president of Temple's newly created Eastern region operations, which also include two earlier acquisitions in North Carolina and South Carolina now operated under the Power Supply name. No personnel changes are planned at Vanyo.

Temple also acquired two related businesses--the Service Center, which does repair on Kyle reclosers and various pressure tools, and National PowerX, Solon, Ohio, which does substation, catenary and T&D line packaging.
