Expanding into Nebraska, Electrical Engineering & Equipment Co., better known as 3E, Windsor Heights, Iowa, has acquired Electric Fixture & Supply Co. of Omaha, Neb. The sale was completed on Oct. 23.

The acquisition of Electric Fixture & Supply Co. and its seven locations in Nebraska doubles 3E's number of distribution locations and will position it as one of the nation's top 50 electrical distributors, the company said. The company is currently ranked as the nation's 52nd-largest electrical distributor, according to EW's Top 200 listing. 3E has done some project work in the Nebraska market prior to this acquisition, but on a very limited basis, said John Temple, director of marketing. “This will mark our first real effort to service the Nebraska market,” he said.

The current Electric Fixture & Supply management team will remain in place and the company will do business as Electric Fixture & Supply, a division of 3E. “There may come a time in the future when all locations will be under one name,” said Temple.

3E has more than 280 employees and seven electrical distribution centers throughout Iowa.

Electric Fixture & Supply ranks as the nation's 131st-largest electrical distributor, according to EW. It serves the Nebraska and western Iowa electrical contractor and industrial MRO markets. 3E said the acquisition will strengthen both companies, provide improved synergies for the generator sales division, and add new products and services for the Nebraska industrial automation, OEM and data/communication markets.
