Ripley Tools, Cromwell, CT, a manufacturer of infrastructure cable preparation and testing tools, recently announced the launch of its Ripley Labs innovation center, the result of a multimillion-dollar investment. It will provide custom tool engineering and design, along with volume manufacturing capabilities.

The vision for the lab was shaped by Ripley’s team of engineers, including Director of Engineering Brian Bourgoin and recently appointed CEO John Jutila. According to the release, the lab will allow the company to collaborate on design solutions with other ecosystem partners, including those with specific R&D or application skills, technology developers and inventors wanting to apply their innovations to cable applications while leveraging the company’s manufacturing, global sales and marketing presence.

Also headquartered in Cromwell, the lab is SO 9001-certified with rapid in-house prototyping and a wide range of equipment. Additionally, Ripley Labs has optical component, electronic circuit board and firmware/software design capabilities at the company’s Belmont, NH-based engineering center and applications engineering and prototype collaboration at its Kingswinford, UK location.

“Ripley Labs enables us to continue to invest in market-leading innovation to fuel manufacturing growth and jobs”, said Jutila, president and CEO, in the release. “Our ability to solve unique requirements for cable or equipment suppliers, construction contractors, defense and aerospace, power utilities and telecom or wireless network operators is well established and a distinct competitive advantage.”
