John Rogers Jr. has been promoted to division area sales manager of Kirby Risk Electrical Supply, Lafayette, Ind. He is responsible for the Terre Haute and Vincennes, Indiana, branches. He was most recently division manager of the Columbus, Ind., branch.
Herb Odle was presented the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) Medal during the organization's annual Honors Luncheon in Ottawa, Canada. The award is given for “meritorious technical achievement that has conspicuously furthered the professional knowledge of illuminating engineering.” Odle was recognized for his work designing optical systems for industrial, roadway and commercial lighting products. Odle retired from Holophane, Newark, Ohio, in 1998.
Joel Van Treese has been named vice president of sales at Peerless Electric Supply Co., Indianapolis. He has 20 years of industry experience. Rick Gill has been promoted to general manager. He has been with the company full time for 18 years.
Edwards Signaling, Cheshire, Conn., has announced an organizational restructuring. Edwards said the organizational changes are necessary to capitalize on some new products coming out in 2002. Robert Beck has been appointed vice president of strategic products and accounts. Additionally, Beck continues in his responsibility for Affiliated Distributors, the IMARK Group, and Graybar national accounts. Robert (Bud) McCann has been appointed vice president of sales. Most recently, he was national sales manager for Gerber Scientific Products. Dennis Smart has been appointed Northeast region sales director. He was previously manager of the Northeast region.
Talbot Steel, executive vice president of commercial operations for Advance Transformer Co., Rosemont, Ill., has announced his retirement from the company. He had been with Advance Transformer, and its parent company, Philips Electronics North America Corp., for 34 years. Dave Levinson has been appointed vice president, marketing. Levinson, who joined the company in 1991, was previously vice president of distribution sales. Ray Hurt, vice president of sales, has been named to the executive management team of the Philips Business Group Lighting Electronics. Jim Josko, previously vice president of sales, Western region, has been appointed vice president of distribution sales. Gary Sanders has been promoted to vice president of specification sales. He was previously director of specification sales.
The National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED), St. Louis, has named Myers “Mike” Lockard of Hunzicker Brothers Inc., Oklahoma City, the incoming vice president-elect for Region 1. Lockard was chosen by majority approval of the Region 1 Council. He will lead Region 1 in 2003-2004.
WAGO Corp., Germantown, Wis., has named Bill Lydon product manager of electronic products. He was previously with Johnson Controls and later worked as a consultant.
Rexel Inc., Dallas, has appointed Robert Case as director of sales and marketing for the company's South Central division. Case, formerly Southwest regional vice-president of Cummins Utility Supply, will be leading the sales and marketing efforts of the South Central Division, which includes locations in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas.
Warshauer Electric Supply, Tinton Falls, N.J., has named Mary-Ellen Viglis as a salesperson in the company's commercial lighting department. She spent the last five years with Monarch Electric. Kathy Mayor has also been named to the commercial lighting department as a salesperson. She was previously with Cooper Electric.
Robert Nixon has been appointed director of The Genlyte Group Inc., Louisville, Ky., and member of the company's audit committee. Nixon has also been nominated for election to the board by the shareholders for a three-year term at the next annual meeting to be held April 25. Nixon currently holds the Fischer Family Chair in Family Entrepreneurship and is an associate professor of management, College of Business and Public Administration, University of Louisville. Prior to his academic experience, Nixon had numerous business management positions including serving as co-founder and director of First Federal Mortgage.
Progress Lighting, Spartanburg, S.C., has named Colleen Visage senior product manager of decorative products. Visage has 15 years of experience in the decorative lighting industry, primarily in the development of lighting and accessory products.
TradePower, Blue Bell, Pa., has announced that G. Michael Llewellyn is no longer serving as chief executive officer of TradePower, but he remains a member of the board of directors. Dean Jester, TradePower's recently appointed president, has been named chief operating officer. Additionally, Alan Mech, formerly president of Estimation Inc., has been named vice president, contractor solutions. Betty Helpa, formerly chief operations officer of Trade Service Systems, has been named vice president, distributor solutions. Also, Mike Wentz, formerly vice president of sales, has been appointed vice president of marketing.
Ronald Provost was presented the Harry J. Pfister Award for excellence in service to the communications industry by Dr. Paul Givens, associate dean of the University of South Florida's (USF) College of Engineering, on January 23, during the 30th annual BICSI Winter Conference held in Orlando, Fla. Provost's 40-year tenure in the telecommunications industry is marked by several significant achievements. He was one of the original framers of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) standards, which guide the telecommunications industry. He represented the United States during the USA/Mexico North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) negotiations on telecommunications. He provided technical expertise to the international standards writing bodies, TIA and ANSI. In 1988, Provost created the governmental relations committee for BICSI, which he chaired until 1993 when he became the first government relations representative for BICSI. He will resign that position this year, but will continue to provide technical expertise to BICSI as the conference speaker representative. Provost is the principal of RGP Consultants, Woodcliff Lake, N.J. The Telecommunications Excellence in Service Award was established in 1982 by USF to honor an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the industry over a period of time.
