The possible merger between arch-rival wire and cable distribution giants Futronix and Houston Wire & Cable will not happen. Talks between Kent Electronics, Houston-based parent company of Futronix, and Houston Wire & Cable Co., also of Houston, regarding the merger have been called off and no deal is forthcoming, according to Tom Adelman, vice president of operations for Futronix. A letter by Larry Olson, president and COO of Kent said the company had a duty to investigate the proposed merger.
