Columbia Electric Wins Plymouth Trial Court Project

The lighting department of Columbia Electric Supply Inc., Brockton, Mass., has been awarded the contract to provide lighting and lighting control systems for the in-construction Plymouth Trial Court facility.

This award is one of the largest projects to date for Columbia Electric's two-year-old lighting department, headed by Joe D'Alessandro, director of commercial lighting.

Columbia Electric is working in partnership on the project with Sparks Electric, Inc. of Little Compton, R.I., according to Linda Downing, project manager for the Plymouth Trial Court project. Columbia Electric is providing the lighting equipment for the 189,000-square-foot project, while Sparks Electric will conduct installation.

“This project is quite interesting and challenging,” said Downing, a 20-year veteran of the lighting industry who joined Columbia Electric two years ago. “We are coordinating the supply of material for three separate systems for the building to accommodate all design needs.”

The new Plymouth Trial Court is slated to open in May 2007. It will contain Superior, District, Juvenile, Housing and Probate and Family Court departments, in addition to a Law Library, day-care space and jury pool accommodations.

“Attaining the award for such a prestigious and important project is a real feather in the cap of our relatively new lighting department,” said Geoff Murphy, president of Columbia Electric. “The design aspects of this particular job are both intricate and challenging, but we have every confidence that we will provide a lighting system that will shine in this new state-of-the-art facility.”
