The National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED), St. Louis, has named Richard Smith of Gettens Electric Supply Co. Inc., Fitchburg, Mass.,

The National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED), St. Louis, has named Richard “Rick” Smith of Gettens Electric Supply Co. Inc., Fitchburg, Mass., as the incoming vice president-elect for Region 3. Smith will lead Region 3 in 2003-2004. He has been a member of the NAED regional council since 1997. Steve Brand of Standard Electric, Wilmington, Mass., will assume the position of vice president of Region 3 after NAED's 2002 annual meeting May 11-15 in Chicago. He will lead region 3 in 2002-2003. Region 3, which represents the Eastern portion of the United States, is currently led by Jack Justilian of Maurice Electrical Supply, Washington.

Super Vision, Orlando, Fla., has named Doug Carver national accounts sales manager. Carver was formerly the national sales manager for Fiberstars Inc.

Tim Tapia has been named chief executive officer and chairman of EGM Inc., Gilbert, Ariz. Scott Tonn has been appointed president. John Hyland has been named branch manager of Essco Supply Sales Co., Indio, Calif. Jody Bryant has been named branch manager of Essco Wholesale Electric Inc., Anaheim, Calif.

John Rogers Jr. has been promoted to division area sales manager of Kirby Risk Electrical Supply, Lafayette, Ind. He is responsible for the Terre Haute and Vincennes, Indiana branches. He was most recently division manager of the Columbus, Ind., branch.

Crawford Lipsey has been promoted to vice president and general manager of Holophane, Newark, Ohio. He was previously vice president of sales and marketing. The company has announced appointments in conjunction with expanding its media sales group. Dick Bagni has been named media market specialist, West Coast. Robert Gwaltney has been named media market specialist, East Coast. Bagni was most recently director of Holophane Media Group International. He has been with the company since 1964. Gwaltney was most recently a consultant to the sign industry.

Former chief operating officer of Integrated Electrical Services Inc., Houston, Herbert “Roddy” Allen has been named chief executive officer following the resignation of H. David Rahm. The company has also appointed Richard China chief operating officer.

In conjunction with a company-wide reorganization, Graybar Electric Co. Inc., St. Louis, has announced a number of new appointments. The new group vice presidents and the districts they are responsible for are: Donald Block, New York, Boston and Northeastern Comm/Data; Thomas Gurganous, Pittsburgh, Richmond, Va., and a newly created Eastern Comm/Data district; Richard Offenbacher, Atlanta, Tampa, Fla., and Southeastern Comm/Data; Richard Cole, Minneapolis, Cincinnati, Chicago and North Central Comm/Data; John Loff, St. Louis, Dallas, Houston and Midwest Comm/Data; Kenneth Sparks, Seattle, Phoenix and Western Comm/Data; and Gary Hodges, California and California Comm/Data. In addition, John Mansfield, who heads Graybar's specialty district serving Lucent Technologies, was promoted to group vice president. Succeeding those named to group vice president are the following vice presidents of sales: Peter Elkas, currently branch manager in Worcester, Mass., has been named vice president of electrical sales in Boston; Wallace Hancock, currently district sales manager in Richmond, Va., has been appointed vice president of electrical sales in Richmond, Va.; Thomas Moore, currently manager of Comm/Data sales in Charlotte, N.C., has been appointed vice president of Comm/Data sales in a newly formed Eastern Comm/Data district; Jeffrey Craig, currently national market manager at corporate headquarters, has been named vice president of Comm/Data sales in the Southeastern Comm/Data district; Michael Wall, currently main house branch manager at Chicago, has been named vice president of electrical sales at Chicago; William Mansfield, currently director service provider market at corporate headquarters, has been appointed vice president of Comm/Data sales in the Midwest Comm/Data district; Kirk Snure, currently main house branch manager at Seattle, has been named vice president of electrical sales at Seattle; Scott Stromberg, currently branch manager at Denver, has been appointed vice president of electrical sales in the California district; and David Maxwell, currently corporate account manager, has been named vice president of Comm/Data sales in the western Comm/Data district. Also, Rob Bezjak, who is currently district vice president of the Midwest Comm/Data district, has been promoted to the newly created position of vice president of markets at corporate headquarters. Bruce Judkins, currently vice president of electrical marketing, has been appointed to the new position of vice president of electrical products. Alan Eddings, currently vice president of Comm/Data marketing, has been appointed to the new position of vice president of Comm/Data products.

Springfield Electric, Springfield, Ill., has named Alan Baum director of marketing for the company. Baum has been with the company for 34 years in positions including branch operations manager in Springfield, Ill., and consumer products division manager.

Optical Cable Corp., Roanoke, Va., has announced that, upon the recommendation of the independent special committee of its board of directors, the board has removed Robert Kopstein as the company's president, chief executive officer and chairman. The board has requested that Kopstein consider continuing to provide assistance to the company as an outside consultant. Neil Wilkin, currently the company's senior vice president and chief financial officer, will assume the additional responsibilities of acting president until a successor to that position is named.

Litetronics International Inc., Alsip, Ill., Mark Ivancic has been named chief financial officer and chief operating officer. He was previously financial analysis manager and international operations manager for the Amoco Corp.

Gerber Scientific Inc., South Windsor, Conn., chairman and chief executive officer Michael Cheshire has resigned to pursue other interests. The company's president, Marc Giles, has been named to the additional post of chief executive officer. George Gentile has been named chairman.

GE Supply, Shelton, Conn., has named the following new branch managers and management staff: Richard Oglesby has been named branch manager for Atlanta and Atlanta South. Gail del Rio has been named western regional operations manager. Michelle Wade-Brunswick has been named branch manager of E&C West Operations. Kris Maslin has been named branch manager, operations in Hayward, Calif. Bruce Urashima has been named branch manager in Greensboro, N.C. Paul Cantrell has been named branch manager in Charleston, W. Va.

E-Mon Corp., Langhorne, Pa., has announced the appointment of Joey Hanley as regional sales manager for its southeast region. He was previously president and partner of Electrical Reps South Inc.

TSAO Designs Inc., Bridgeport, Conn., has appointed Kenneth Guldalian vice president of sales. He has served as regional sales manager for the Guth Lighting subsidiary of JJI and as a lighting product manager for French Gerleman Electric.

Katy Industries, Carmel, Ind., has named David Rahilly president of Woods Industries Inc. He was previously vice president of marketing and sales at Timex and Voguestrap.
