Receptacles Feature Universally Recognized Power Symbol

Nov. 4, 2014
The face of the new Pass & Seymour Plug Load Controllable Receptacles receptacles is pad printed with the universally recognized power symbol, which remains clearly visible after installation.

The face of thenew Pass & Seymour Plug Load Controllable Receptacles receptacles is pad printed with the universally recognized power symbol, which remains clearly visible after installation. This complies with the requirements of the 2014 National Electrical Code Section 406.3 (E). It also meets the conditions of ASHRAE Energy Efficiency Standard 90.1: Section 8.4.2 and California Title 24 Part 6, effective July 1, 2014, both of which specify the requirement to permanently mark which outlets on receptacles are controlled.  Some companies with competing products currently available either offer stickers to be field applied to the wall plate or other areas of the controlled receptacle outlet or are not marking their devices at all with the power symbol. The new receptacles are installed on a circuit and their electrical loads are managed by and compatible with a number of building control solutions, including WattStopper’s Digital Lighting Management system. These building control systems automatically shut off and turn on the controllable portions of the receptacles at predetermined times.
