In 2010, the Electric League of Arizona (ELA) is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Through the decades, the league has provided administrative and marketing support for its contractors, creating and expanding programs in conjunction with the public utilities APS and SRP and working with other associations and ELA contractors to provide energy-related volunteer and community services within Arizona.

The League has over 375 active members including HVAC, electrical, solar, plumbing, roofing, lighting and general/remodeling contractors, companies, manufacturers, distributors and manufacturers' representatives. It also operates nine consumer councils that provide qualified service contractor referrals and energy-saving advice to customers.

Among the league's recent initiatives are several contractor training and referral programs with the utilities, including the APS Qualified Solar Installer Program to provide qualified solar energy contractor referrals to APS's residential customers and to educate customers on the benefits of converting to renewable energy.
