Dream Jobs: Detroit's new downtown arena for the NHL's Red Wings

Some projects made our list because of the economic impact they will have on a city, and it's tough to find a city that could use more help in this department than Detroit. The city has s a dream downtown job on the drawing boards in Olympia Development’s proposed $650 million Red Wings arena project that would include new apartments, lofts, offices, stores, and restaurants and an 20,000-seat rink.  According to an article in Crain's Detroit Business, the project will also include a 12.37-acre  multi-use development with  a piazza, residential units,  a 1,200-space, five-story parking garage, and a  37,300-square-foot below-grade practice ice rink inside the arena.
