SolarCity and Bayer Healthcare recently announced a 1,000-panel solar power installation in Berkeley, Calif., that will produce 295kW. The installation will be the largest PV project in Berkeley and will help power Bayer's manufacturing facilities in the city. In a press release announcing the project, Roberts, principal engineer at Bayer Healthcare, said, “Bayer Berkeley Sustainability Council is continually exploring viable technologies to reduce its carbon footprint in the Berkeley community, and solar electricity has proven to be a valuable asset. Our employees will also benefit from the creative installation of the panels. Rather than locate them on the roof, we will integrate into a car canopy system that provides shade for employee vehicles.”
