Promotions and new appointments

At Affiliated Distributors, King of Prussia, Pa., Christopher Hartmann has been promoted to president and chief operating officer, responsible for the Electrical Supply (US and Canada), Industrial Supply and Industrial PVF divisions, as well as finance, human resources and operations. Steve Ruane, previously director of marketing, has been named vice president of marketing. Ellen McCarthy has been named marketing communications and promotions manager. She was most recently distributor marketing manager for Cooper Bussmann, St. Louis, Mo. Mark Wilson has been named director of service-provider relations. He was previously director of operations. Bill Weisberg, chairman and CEO, was recently named president and CEO of

David Peterson has been named vice president for product line management at Horton Controls, Birmingham, Ala. Previously he was product manager for the GE Total Lighting Control Business.

David S. Lowenstein has been named director of marketing at Billows Electric Supply Co., Philadelphia, Pa. Previously, he was an operations manager. Terry Zack has been named Midwest regional sales manager at IBOCO Corp., East Brunswick, N.J. His previous experience includes sales and district and regional sales management.

At CLS, Hartford, Conn., Mark Lauria has been named southern region director of sales. He was previously responsible for the Hartford, Conn., Waterbury, Conn., and W. Springfield, Mass., branches. Don Ripley, vice president of human resources, recently earned accreditation as senior professional of human resources.

Fred Jones, vice president and chief financial officer of Thomas & Betts Corp., Memphis, Tenn., has announced his plans to retire later this year. Jones joined T&B in 1995 as vice president of finance and treasurer. John Murphy has been named as his successor. Murphy was most recently senior vice president and chief financial officer of Johns Manville Corp.

At Osram Sylvania, Danvers, Mass., Mandy Studebaker has been named senior applications engineer for high-intensity discharge lighting (HID). She has been in the company's Associate Development program since 1997. Robert Ponzini has been named product marketing manager for HID. He was most recently a senior applications engineer. Frank St. Onge, business development manager for the General Lighting division since 1991, has been named director of marketing and sales for the Precision Materials & Components Glass Technologies division. He succeeds Ronald Harris, who was named plant manager at the Versailles, Ky., glass plant. Eberhard Schmidt, most recently manager of international sales for the General Lighting division, has been named product marketing manager for specialty fluorescent lamps. Alan Weiss, formerly director of sales, marketing and planning for Electronic Control Systems, has been named vice president of the new e-business unit.

At Square D, Palatine, Ill., Michael F. Lesley has been appointed vice president of sales and marketing in the U.S. He was previously vice president, development and technologies. He succeeds Ken Fairleigh, who recently was named vice president of sales for

At Graybar Electric Co., St. Louis, Mo., Frank H. Hughes has been appointed to the new position of executive vice president of Canada. He was previously vice president and general manager of the Harris & Roome subsidiary in Nova Scotia. Deborah L. Weis, formerly manager of electronic commerce, has been promoted to director of electronic commerce. Peter L. Johnson, formerly the quality manager for the Seattle, Minnesota and St. Louis districts, has been appointed director of quality and service.

At Tristate Electrical and Electronics Supply Co., Inc., Hagerstown, Md., Ken Avery has been promoted from Baltimore regional vice president to eastern regional vice president. Lee Garrett has been appointed Baltimore regional sales manager.
