The International Lineman's Museum and Hall of Fame in Shelby, N.C., chose Klein Tools founder Mathias Klein as one of its inaugural inductees. Klein joins Thomas Edison and other industry contributors as the Hall of Fame's inaugural class.
The International Lineman's Hall of Fame pays tribute to those lineman and individuals who have contributed to the safety and existence of the electrical industry. They also have gone beyond the call of duty to establish and exemplify the high-caliber qualities of the Brotherhood of Electrical Linemen.
The inductees are immortalized in the International Linemen's Museum and Hall of Fame Memorial Garden in Shelby. The inductees' names are inscribed on a nine-foot tall piece of black granite outside the museum.
“It is an honor that my great-great-grandfather's legacy will forever be recognized by the International Lineman's Hall of Fame. He would be proud that Klein Tools has diligently continued his work in providing quality hand tools for linemen,” said Mathias A. Klein III, chairman, Klein Tools.
Founded in 1997, the International Lineman's Museum has several thousand artifacts and is dedicated to preserving the heritage of both current and past linemen. The Hall of Fame was founded in 2006 to honor those who have made a significant impact on the industry. For more information, visit www.linemanmuseum.com.
This year marks Klein Tools' 150th anniversary. In 1857, Klein Tools' founder and blacksmith Mathias Klein forged the first-known U.S.-made pliers in Chicago.
