Like many community colleges in the United States, Hinds Community College, Raymond, Miss., the largest community college in Mississippi, has embraced industry partnerships to assure its students benefit from the newest technologies in spite of funding struggles. Recently the school turned to Ideal Industries for help, and the Sycamore, Ill.-based manufacturer responded, donating thousands of wire connectors as well as conduit benders, training software and lockout/tagout safety equipment.

Hinds has a highly-regarded electrical program to prepare students for entry-level employment as electricians by training them to install, maintain and repair electrical systems for residential, commercial and industrial settings. The program serves 85 to 100 students each semester.

Russell Nadicksbernd of RT Electrical Sales, Memphis, Tenn., assisted in the donation: “We have sent Hinds Ideal supplies in previous years. We have a good relationship with the school and a number of the instructors. We have also helped with seminars on lockout/tagout and test and measurement.”
