IALD Honors International Lighting Design Award Winners

Twenty projects were on display from ten countries, including exteriors, interiors, memorials, hospitality, hospitals, retail, and places of worship.

The International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) recently announced the winners of its 38th Annual International Lighting Design Awards, presented by Cooper Lighting Solutions. For the second time, industry professionals gathered online to honor the winners. Twenty projects were on display from ten countries, including exteriors, interiors, memorials, hospitality, hospitals, retail, and places of worship. 

"Every year, we see an increase in the quality of entries, and this year year is certainly no different," said Mirjam Roos, IALD Awards Chair, IALD, CLD, in the release. "Our seven-member panel of judges evaluate each project submission for demonstration of excellence across ten distinct areas in a rigorous and blind process."

The highest point score winner across all entries, in addition to receiving an Award of Excellence for their project, received the IALD Radiance Award for Excellence in Lighting Design, the highest honor in architectural lighting design. This year, the IALD Radiance Award for Excellence in Lighting Design goes to Sirius Lighting Office Inc. for Toranomon Hills Business Tower in Tokyo. 

The IALD Awards of Excellence are as follows:

The projects were selected by a panel of seven judges, including five IALD members at various experience levels: Yahui Cheng, IALD, CLD,Melbourne, Australia and Taipei; Kristen Garibaldi, Associate IALD, New York, NY USA; Julia Hartmann, IALD, CLD, Zurich, Switzerland; Glenn Heinmiller, FIALD, Cambridge, MA USA; Joe Lawton, Interior + Experiential Designer, Chicago, IL USA; Vladan Paunovic, IALD, CLD, Copenhagen, Denmark; and Tina Turrisi, Architect, Sydney Australia.
