Southwire Acquires ProBuilt Lighting

Aug. 31, 2018
Southwire will relocate ProBuilt to Carrollton and incorporate it into Southwire’s Tools and Assembled Products business unit.

Wire and tool giant Southwire, Carrollton, GA, has acquired the assets of ProBuilt Professional Lighting LLC, Mundelein, IL, a manufacturer of portable lighting products for industrial and commercial markets.

ProBuilt concentrates on products used primarily on job sites including the brands Wobblelight and Hang-a-light as well as flood lighting, utility lighting and several specialty lighting products.

Having bought the assets, Southwire will relocate ProBuilt to Carrollton and incorporate it into Southwire’s Tools and Assembled Products business unit.

“On our journey to accelerate growth, we continue to find innovative ways to expand our product offering and meet the evolving needs of our customers,” said Rich Stinson, Southwire’s president and CEO. “ProBuilt is a strong addition to our product portfolio and a valuable complement to our business.”

“As a business group, our mission is to make contractors’ lives easier,” said Norman Adkins, EVP and president of Southwire’s Construction Systems & Solutions group. “The acquisition of ProBuilt strengthens this commitment, and we are pleased to add these products to our growing suite of contractor solutions.”

Southwire has been keen on building up its Tools and Assembled Products business as ProBuilt joins Garvin Industries, a manufacturer of junction boxes, hangers, fittings and low-voltage devices acquired earlier this month.
