NorthEast Electrical/Sonepar, Brockton, MA, announced that applications for their 2026 Community Scholarships & Grants Program are now open. The annual initiative continues NorthEast’s commitment to investing in the next generation of skilled trades professionals and supporting students across New England as they prepare for life beyond high school.

Each year, NorthEast Electrical awards seven $1,000 Electrify Your Future scholarships and six $500 Gear Up for Success tool grants to eligible graduating seniors across the region. One of the scholarships is dedicated specifically to a graduating senior from Brockton High School, where NorthEast’s central distribution center (CDC) and headquarters are located.

Established by NorthEast’s Inclusion Committee and co‑sponsored by the company’s Connect and Women Advocating Today for Tomorrow (WATT) employee resource groups, the program is designed to strengthen communities, champion diversity in the trades, and encourage students from all backgrounds to pursue rewarding careers in technical and vocational fields.

Applicants are asked to submit a short essay responding to the following prompt:

“Inclusion means creating an environment where people of different backgrounds, perspectives and experiences feel valued and able to contribute. Describe a personal experience that shaped your understanding of what inclusion looks like in practice, whether it was something you did or something you witnessed. Explain how this experience changed your perspective on inclusion and how it will influence the way you interact with others moving forward.”

This topic is designed to help students reflect deeply on their lived experiences while showcasing their leadership, resilience, and personal growth.

“Our communities thrive when young people feel empowered to bring their full, authentic selves to whatever path they choose,” said Ashley White, NorthEast Electrical Inclusion Committee Member, in the press release. “The stories students share each year remind us why investing in inclusive perspectives is so vital – not just for our company, but for the trades and for the future. Their voices show us what leadership, empathy, and courage look like today.”
