MEP Jobs, Urbandale, Iowa, an online job board targeting trade workers and their employers in the mechanical, electrical and plumbing industries, has released results of a survey on salary levels among professionals in these industries. Highlights from the survey include:

Nationwide, the average salary for workers in the mechanical, electrical and plumbing sectors is $52,000. Here are the average salaries for several key positions:
- Mechanical engineer ($72,000)
- Plumbing project manager ($73,400)
- Electrical construction superintendent ($66,560)
- HVAC project manager ($65,750)

The top-paying metro area is Los Angeles, with the average worker earning $66,560.

Despite a decrease in the residential housing market, 60 percent of employers indicated that they plan to increase staffing levels during the coming year.
