James Sullivan, 75, retired principal of the manufacturers' representative firm of W.E. Daw Co. Inc., Syracuse, N.Y., and founding member of the National Electrical Manufacturers Representatives Association (NEMRA), Tarrytown, N.Y., died Dec. 10. Sullivan was a World War II veteran who participated in starting NEMRA. In 1994, he was named agent of the year by the National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED), St. Louis. Sullivan served on numerous rep councils and NEMRA committees throughout his career and retired from active business in 1998. Condolences may be sent to the Sullivan Family, c/o W.E. Daw Co., P.O. Dwight Gordon, the National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED)'s former southern region manager, died Dec. 4. Gordon was regional manager with the trade association from 1985-1998. In his 13 years with NAED, Gordon managed the southern region market area meetings and regional council. He was also responsible for the direction of the association's Young Executives of Today program. Gordon is survived by his daughter, Brionne; and his sisters, Donna Ridgell, Diana Carter and Darlene Parker.
Kenneth Hurley Sr., former director of the Lighting Design Center for 15 years at Warshauer Electric Supply Co., Tinton Falls, N.J., died Oct. 30. He was 56 years old. He was a recognized expert in the lighting industry. Prior to working for Warshauer Electric, he was self-employed as the owner/operator of Ocean Electric, Ocean City, N.J., for 20 years. He was an active member of the Landscape Lighting Association, the American Society of Interior Designers, the director of the American Lighting Association and a supporting member of the New Jersey Electrical Association. He is survived by his wife, Joanne, and his son, Kenneth Jr.
