Square D has donated labor, supplies and money to eight separate initiatives in the Gulf Coast, attempting to rebuild cherished community locations and organizations that were damaged after Hurricane Katrina. Square D is the flagship brand of Schneider Electric, Palatine, Ill., for electrical distribution equipment.
The projects vary from parks and athletic facilities to museums and a medical clinic. Total monetary donations given to the collective efforts are more than $1 million.
“Giving back to the community has always been a core value of Schneider Electric, especially in the face of devastating disasters such as Hurricane Katrina,” said Dave Petratis, president and chief executive officer of the Schneider Electric North American Operating Division. “In seeking out numerous independent initiatives throughout the Gulf region, we could ensure our money was aiding multiple communities and a variety of important projects.”
The eight recent initiatives supported by the donations are the city park in New Orleans; Beach Park in Pascagoula, Miss.; the Stone High School baseball field in Stone County, Miss.; the Audubon Nature Institute's aquarium in New Orleans; Milner Football Stadium in Gulfport, Miss; a golf fundraiser in Gulfport, Miss.; the Trinity Christian Community Center in New Orleans; and the Bayou La Batre Rural Health Clinic in Bayou La Batre, Ala.
