Graybar Electric, St. Louis, launched a mobile resource management system that tracks and documents deliveries made by Graybar drivers. Graybar Delivery Advantage was developed with customer input to be a real-time solution that helps customers better manage their incoming materials, saving them time and money. The Graybar Delivery Advantage provides valuable details on incoming deliveries made by Graybar drivers, including delivery date and time, electronic image of customer's signature for proof of delivery, electronic image of delivery and an aerial map of the delivery location.
“The Graybar Delivery Advantage allows us to streamline our drivers' time and their routes, resulting in more deliveries per route,” said Dennis Grousosky, Graybar vice president - service. “We're always working to our customers' advantage by creating improved efficiencies with these types of new services.”
The Graybar Delivery Advantage was recently recognized by InformationWeek as one of “20 Great Ideas” that were part of its InformationWeek 500, for Graybar's innovative use of cell phones to optimize supply chain performance.
Graybar drivers gather the delivery information using their Sprint/Nextel mobile phones enabled with Xora GPS TimeTrack service. Once the service captures the delivery information, it is available immediately to Graybar Customer Service. Graybar customers can contact their customer service representative to request the detailed information per delivery.
