Robroy Industries' Conduit Division and Sumitomo Corp. of America/Sumitomo Metal Industries, LTD., recently celebrated 40 years of business partnership with a dinner at the Summit Club in Longview, Texas. To commemorate the milestone, Robroy representatives presented their Sumitomo guests with gifts representing the Scottish heritage of Robroy and the McIlroy family, now in its fourth generation of Robroy Industries ownership.

David Marshall, president and COO of Robroy Industries, presented Ichiro Yasumura, general manager of the Sumitomo group's pipe department, with a Scottish Claymore sword featuring the inscription: “Hold a true friend with both your hands.” Additionally, all members of the Sumitomo delegation were presented inscribed pewter quaiches, traditional Scottish bowls used to bring welcoming drinks to visitors.

Robroy Industries was founded in 1905 by a Scottish immigrant, Peter McIlroy, age 27, who had just arrived from Scotland without a penny to his name. His grandson, Peter McIlroy II now runs the company, and the fourth generation of the McIlroy family is also now active in the company.
