Think wind energy isn't an international business? Think again. Vestas, the giant Danish manufacturer of wind turbines recently received an order for 232 units from China Guangdong Nuclear Wind Power Co. Ltd., part of the China Guangdong Nuclear Group for four projects in Inner Mongolia. Delivery of the turbines will begin in mid-2008.

State-side, the company sold 33 wind turbines to RES Americas, Inc., a leading wind development company and subsidiary of Renewable Energy Systems Ltd. in the UK. That company is building the 99mW Central Plains Wind Farm in western Kansas for Westar Energy Inc. Renewable Energy Systems is currently developing more than 1,000 mW of wind power capacity in North America.
