BJ Electric Supply Inc., Madison, Wis., hosted a six-week-long food drive and invited their customers, vendors, employees, and neighbors to participate. Each week had a different theme to encourage people to bring in something new. With a total of 93 employees among the company's three branches in Madison, Janesville and Pewaukee, the company gathered a total of 4,282 pounds of food, which was donated to each branch's respective food pantry. All Madison donations went to Second Harvest Food Bank, all Janesville donations went to House of Mercy & ECHO (Everyone Cooperating to Help Others), and all Pewaukee Donations went to Waukesha County Food Pantry.

During this year's tough economy, the number of families in need of assistance from food pantries is higher than ever, but the number of people able to give is not as high, the company said. The contributions of those who participated in the food drive demonstrate the power of a caring community, the company said.
