Summit Electric Supply, Albuquerque, opened a new service center in Pearsall, Texas, in July, further expanding its operation into southern Texas during a boom in land-based oil and gas drilling.

The Pearsall service center supports the Eagle Ford Shale oil and gas exploration currently under way in south Texas. The San Antonio Express-News reported recently that there are 240 rigs operating in the shale area and 1,400 wells waiting to be completed or tied into pipelines. This has companies moving quickly to expand pipelines, spurring the need for many ancillary services.

“The area is extremely active,” said Dan Ferrari, Gulf Coast regional vice president at Summit. “With service centers located throughout the area, Summit will be well-suited to provide great service across the entire Eagle Ford Shale.”

Pearsall will be under the direction of service center leader Allen O'Dell, who also manages Summit's San Antonio operation. A delivery truck will run daily between Pearsall and San Antonio, serving other small towns in the area, including Dilley, Cotulla, Carrizo Springs, Crystal City, Jourdanton, Pleasanton and Charlotte.
