While single-family construction has been fairly soft compared to last year in other regions, four of this region’s MSAs are in the Top 10 for the nation in single-family housing starts year-to-date — Atlanta, Charlotte, Washington, D.C. and Tampa. The region also has 26 metros in the 50 hottest housing markets measured by building permits year-to-date per 1,000 residents. Florida has some nice-sized projects underway right now, and some mega-million dollar projects are on the drawing boards, nearing ground-breaking or underway, including at least 28 projects either underway or on the drawing boards valued at over $100 million.
