Bolstering its product offering for the roadway lighting market, National Service Industries (NSI), Atlanta, the parent company of Lithonia Lighting, Conyers, Ga., has announced its acquisition of the American Electric and Dark-To-Light product lines of Thomas & Betts Corp., Memphis, Tenn.

The two lines, with annual revenues totaling around $80 million, include outdoor lighting products (luminaires and electronic photocontrols) sold principally to the commercial, industrial, utility, governmental and institutional markets.

The deal includes two manufacturing facilities in Bainbridge, Ga., and Monterrey, Mexico, as well as administrative offices in Memphis. Overall, the acquisition affects around 700 employees.

Kenneth Honeycutt Jr., president of Lithonia, said the new products are highly complementary to Lithonia's.

“The American Electric standardized lines of roadway, architectural and security lighting add tremendous breadth to our current utility offerings in high-end decorative street and area lighting,” Honeycutt said. “Taken together, our offerings will comprise the most complete package of utility-focused lighting products available in the industry.”
