Four Boralex Solar Projects Selected Under a Request for Proposal in NY State

March 17, 2020
The four projects, totaling 180 MW and located in upstate NY, were selected by the NYSERDA

Boralex Inc., Montreal, recently announced that four of its projects were selected by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) as part of its 2019 Renewable Energy Standard Solicitation for the purchase of New York Tier-1 Eligible Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). The four projects total 180 megawatts (MW) and include Greens Corners (120 MW) in Watertown and Hounsfield; Sandy Creek (19.99 MW) in Adams and Ellisburg; Bald Mountain (19.99 MW) in Greenwich; and West River (19.99 MW) in Moreau.

The selection commenced a process in which Boralex and NYSERDA are working toward the execution of REC agreements for the purchase of RECs associated with the energy production of each of the projects. Each project will also help support approximately 50 to 100 long-term jobs to support operations.

For each project, Boralex has begun the process of consulting with local stakeholders to understand their interests and consider their comments when designing the facilities. Boralex will continue to work with the host towns, host counties and local stakeholders to ensure that the projects are properly integrated in their respective communities.
